class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In microinjection, a single sperm is injected into the egg using a special tool called a micromanipulator. Fertilization occurs approximately 2 to 4 hours after egg retrieval. In microinjection fertilization, the cells surrounding the eggs (cumulus cells) are first removed. Then, the egg is held with a stabilizing pipette, and the sperm is injected into the egg using a very fine needle. Fertilization is checked under a microscope 16\u201318 hours later. Before fertilization, the embryos are stored in devices called incubators in the laboratory, which mimic the body\u2019s environment, for 3 to 5 days until they are transferred to the mother\u2019s uterus. Then, 1 to 2 embryos with the best development are transferred into the mother\u2019s uterus using a catheter.
